Savings & recommendations
Savings pulls your organization’s cost-cutting opportunities into one place — idle and rightsizing fixes plus commitment-coverage gaps — each with a dollar estimate so you can act on the ones that matter.
The headline picture
Section titled “The headline picture”At the top, Savings rolls up your monthly opportunity into three numbers:
- Banked — estimated savings of recommendations you’ve marked implemented.
- Open — identified opportunities you haven’t acted on yet.
- Potential — the total you could save if you acted on everything.
Alongside these you get a breakdown by action type, so you can see where the biggest wins are before drilling into individual recommendations.
Recommendation types
Section titled “Recommendation types”Each recommendation carries an action type describing what to do, for example:
- Rightsizing / OPTIMIZE — a resource is over-provisioned for its actual load.
- Idle / Review-Delete — a resource looks unused and may be removable.
- Commitment purchase (PURCHASE) — usage is running on-demand that a Reserved Instance or Savings Plan would cover more cheaply. These tie directly to your commitment coverage.
- Create endpoint — traffic routed through a NAT gateway would be cheaper over a VPC endpoint.
What each recommendation tells you
Section titled “What each recommendation tells you”Every recommendation includes the affected service, product, account, and Region; the current monthly cost; the estimated monthly savings; and an effort and confidence rating so you can weigh quick wins against larger projects. You can filter by a minimum monthly-savings floor, action type, account, or product, and results are sorted highest-savings-first.
Next steps
Section titled “Next steps”- Recommendation workflow — review, act on, track, and dismiss recommendations.
- AI Advisor — get help interpreting and prioritizing the list.
You can also review savings through an AI agent connected to the CloudQuell MCP server — for example “show me our top 10 savings opportunities worth at least $100/month.” Only AWS is live today; other providers are in development.
