Organizations

An organization is the container for everything you do in CloudQuell: your connected accounts, cost data, members, and plan all live inside one org. You can belong to several organizations and switch between them, and each org is fully isolated from the others.

Your first organization

When you sign up and verify your email, you name your organization and pick a plan. You become its super_admin, and that org becomes your default when you log in.

At creation you can choose Free, Starter (14-day trial), or Growth (14-day trial). Scale is contact-us. See Tiers & spend bands for what each plan covers.

Creating additional organizations

You can create more organizations at any time — for a separate team, client, or environment. Go to Settings → Switch Organization, or use the organization switcher, and create a new org. You become the super_admin of every org you create.

Additional organizations work a little differently from your first:

Starter / Growth — created in-app on a paid plan, billed right away: you’re taken to Stripe Checkout, and the organization goes live as soon as payment completes. If you cancel at checkout, the organization is discarded.
Free — each account can have one free organization, and a free workspace is started from cloudquell.com (or during onboarding), not from the in-app “create organization” screen. If you already have a free organization, additional ones are on a paid plan.
Free trials are one per account and start on a Free organization — the in-app create-organization flow doesn’t start a trial. See Free trials for how they work.

Switching between organizations

If you belong to more than one org, use the organization switcher to change the active org. All views, data, and actions apply to whichever org is currently active, so check the switcher before making changes.

Leaving an organization

If you’re a member but not the owner, you can leave an org. This deactivates your own membership without affecting the org or anyone else. The organization and its data stay in place.

Deleting your account

You can delete your own user account from the Profile page — but only once it no longer belongs to any organization:

Leave every organization you’re a member of (Profile → Your Organizations → Leave).
For organizations where you’re the only super_admin, leaving is blocked — the org can’t be left without an owner. Either promote another member to super_admin (Members page → change their role) and then leave, or delete the organization (see below; paid orgs cancel their subscription first).
With no organizations left, Delete My Account unlocks on the Profile page. If you’ve already left or deleted your last organization, the create-workspace screen also offers delete your account.

This keeps account deletion from silently dropping memberships or leaving an organization without an owner.

Deleting an organization

Only a super_admin can delete an org (see Roles & permissions). Both self-serve options ask you to type the org name to confirm.

Delete Organization (Settings → Danger Zone, confirmed with Delete forever) — immediate and irreversible. The org and all its data are permanently removed, including the cloud-side ingest resources. There is no grace period. If it was your only org, you’re taken back to onboarding to create or join a new one.
Cancel the subscription (paid orgs) — you keep access until the end of the paid period; after that, your data is retained for about 30 days, then permanently purged. Re-subscribe within that window to restore everything. See Billing & cancellation.

If your org has an active paid subscription, deleting isn’t available — cancel the subscription first. About 30 days after the paid period ends, the org and its data are permanently deleted (or delete it yourself once the cancellation is in). Free orgs and orgs on a 14-day trial can delete directly.
