Cost settings
The same spend can be counted more than one way — before or after credits, with or without tax, billed up front or spread over time. CloudQuell gives you three cost adjustments to control this, so the numbers on your dashboards match how your team thinks about cost.
Each adjustment is set per integration, and a dashboard control — Cost view — lets you override them with one uniform lens when you want to compare every source on the same basis.
The three adjustments
Section titled “The three adjustments”- Credits & discounts — off by default. With it off, spend is shown before credits, refunds, and EDP/bundled discounts — closer to list price. Turn it on to see spend net of them. Heavily credited accounts can show near-zero net cost with this on.
- Taxes — on by default. Includes tax line items in the total. Turn it off to see pre-tax spend.
- Amortization — off by default. With it off you see billed (cash) cost — a one-time Reserved Instance or Savings Plan fee lands in full in the month you paid it. Turn it on for amortized cost, which spreads those upfront fees evenly across the commitment’s term.
Set them per integration
Section titled “Set them per integration”Cost adjustments live in Admin → Integrations. Each connected source keeps its own settings, so you can — for example — view one AWS account amortized while another stays on billed cost. New integrations start on the defaults above.
Which adjustments appear depends on the provider — each integration’s editor shows only the ones its billing data supports:
| Provider | Credits & discounts | Taxes | Amortization |
|---|---|---|---|
| AWS | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Azure | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Google Cloud | ✓ | ✓ | — |
| Snowflake | ✓ | — | — |
| Anthropic, OpenAI | — | — | — |
The Cost view control
Section titled “The Cost view control”By default, every dashboard honors each integration’s own settings. On an organization with several sources, that means AWS is shown with its settings, Azure with its, Google Cloud with its — and the totals combine them correctly, each on its own basis.
When you’d rather read every source on one basis — say, everything amortized, or everything net of credits — use the Cost view control in the bar at the top of the dashboards (next to the scope picker):
- Open Cost view and turn on Apply one cost view to all sources.
- Choose the credits, taxes, and amortization you want.
- Click Apply. The chosen lens now applies uniformly across every source, and the Cost view button changes color while the override is active — a reminder that you’re no longer seeing each integration’s own settings.
Cost view is a per-session viewing preference: it resets when you open a new tab or come back later, and it never changes any integration’s saved settings. Turn the toggle back off to return to each source’s own view.
