Billing & cancellation

Your plan sets your spend band, retention, seats, and connected accounts. This page covers changing your plan and cancelling a subscription. For what each plan includes and pricing, see Plans & pricing and Tiers & spend bands.

  • Upgrade or re-subscribe — self-serve in the app for Starter and Growth: pick the plan and the new features and limits apply right away. Scale is sales-led at every step, re-subscribing included — contact us to move to Scale.
  • Downgrade to a smaller paid tier — contact support. There’s no self-serve downgrade today. Email support@cloudquell.com and we’ll move you to the right tier.
  • Move from a paid plan back to Free — there’s no self-serve paid → Free downgrade, and a paid org is never automatically dropped to Free. To leave paid entirely, cancel the subscription (below).

Starter and Growth can be started as a 14-day free trialno credit card required. You get the full paid feature set for the two weeks. A trial is one per account, started on a Free organization: from the pricing page at sign-up, or by opening Upgrade on a Free org in the app. Additional organizations are billed from day one.

You choose what happens next during the trial:

  • Add a card any time during the trial and your subscription starts automatically when the trial ends — you’re not charged until then, and you can cancel any time before the end to avoid it.
  • Do nothing and the organization moves to the Free plan automatically when the trial ends. Nothing is deleted — your team, integrations, and cost history are all kept — and any members beyond the Free plan’s seat limit become read-only until you upgrade.

We email you a few days before the trial ends so the choice never sneaks up on you.

Cancelling a trial (from the Billing page) moves the organization straight to the Free plan with all data kept — there’s no 30-day purge. That purge window applies only to cancelling a paid subscription, below.

Cancelling is self-serve in the app and can only be done by a super_admin.

When you cancel a paid subscription, you keep full access until the end of the billing period you’ve already paid for, and you aren’t charged again. When that period ends, access closes and your data is retained for about 30 days before it’s permanently purged. (Cancelling a trial is different — it goes straight to Free with no purge; see Free trials above.)

Two ways back:

  • Before the period ends — resume the subscription from the Billing page and the cancellation is undone; nothing changes.
  • After access closes — re-subscribe within the ~30-day retention window and your org comes back exactly as it was.

There are two ways your data leaves CloudQuell:

  • Cancel the subscription — access runs to the end of the paid period, then about a 30-day grace period, then permanent purge. Re-subscribe within the window to restore everything.
  • Delete the organization — immediate and irreversible removal of the org and all its data, including cloud-side ingest resources. Available for Free orgs, trials, and orgs whose subscription is already cancelled — an org with an active paid subscription must cancel the subscription first.

Both paths and the delete flow are covered in Organizations. For details on what CloudQuell stores, see Your data. Retention lengths by plan are in Retention, seats & limits.
